2. COVID-19
The world once believed that the start of our vaccination campaign signified the beginning of the end for the COVID-19 pandemic, hopes that have since been dashed amid a fresh wave of infections triggered by the rise of the Delta and Omicron variants. However, as unprecedented as this crisis might appear, this is far from humanity’s first battle against a disease epidemic, having overcome its struggles with the Black Death, small pox and the Spanish flu throughout our history. So, what is the endgame for the current pandemic? Many experts forecast that the coronavirus may never be eradicated, and that the world must find a way to co-exist with COVID-19 with the help of vaccines and treatments to minimize the number of serious illnesses and deaths. In this special documentary feature on Arirang TV, we look back at what we gained and what we lost in our two-year battle with the pandemic, as well as the remaining challenges that still lie ahead.
