Ok-sun Hyun, an 83-years-old female diver, jumps into the sea with a belt and sharp knife and skillfully picks abalone, top shell, and octopus.
She was the best diver in Jeju Island and dove 20 meters into the sea.
For 65 years, she has swum between life and death, diving with only a small wooden board to lean against.
Mun-gi Lee, an elderly diver, said, "Please, take a picture for my funeral."
She often faces dangers in the sea. Her work is primitive, painful and lonely.
There are few divers in the world and about 2,000 in Jeju island.
This is a story that celebrates the lives of Jeju’s divers, the world’s last mermaids.
