2018 was a landmark year in the peace and denuclearization negotiations on the Korean Peninsula. Most important of all, however, is whether the government can continue and establish a long journey for lasting peace on the Korean Peninsula. This is why neighboring countries as well as the international community will be paying close attention to the issue in 2019. With the start of a new year, we sit down with three experts to talk about the progress of inter-Korean relations, reduced military tensions and to discuss issues that need to be addressed. We sit down with Rep. Park Jie-won of the Party for Democracy and Peace, who dreams of becoming the "first ambassador to Pyeongyang". He says advancements in inter-Korean relations need speed control and we hear why.
They Pyeongyang Declaration that was produced during President Moon Jae-in and Chairman Kim Jong-un's third meeting stipulates the advancement of inter-Korean relations that need to be ratified by the National Assembly. We listen to what is currently being discussed in the National Assembly as well as what concerns are being raised with
and Shim Jae-kwon, the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs and Unification Committee.
We also sit down with Lee Hyun-sook from the Women's Forum for Peace and Diplomacy to hear about what the Korean people think about inter-Korean relations and peace on the Korean Peninsula in 2019.
