1. President Moon Jae-In said Tuesday strengthened anti-virus measures are necessary and asked for understanding and cooperation. As the new variant ‘Omicron’ potentially causes risk in the country, he also highlighted there is no doubt vaccination is the most effective way of deterring spread of virus and encouraged people to get vaccinated. 

2. The U.S. government on Monday officially announced a diplomatic boycott of 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics concerning China’s ongoing human rights abuse in Xinjiang area and Hong Kong. As a result, the U.S. government will not send its high-level officials to the host nation, while athletes can still participate in the games. 

3. South Korea is hosting the 2021 Seoul UN Peacekeeping Ministerial virtually over the next couple of days. This marks the first-time a key UN meeting is hosted by an Asian country. It will highlight "medical capacity building and technology in peacekeeping as important cross-cutting issues".
