This is a name you should look out for in the days to come. Bomsori Kim is the next generation of talented violinists from Korea.
She recently released her debut album. The album that holds violin concertos of Wieniawski and Shostakovich was released on December 29th, 2017.

Bomsori attended Yewon Middle School and the Arts High School which are all prestigious schools in the arts. And then she went to Seoul National University. During her masters program at SNU, she moved to Julliard School of Music and got her masters there. And since September of 2016, she’s been working on her Artist’s Diploma at Julliard as well.

Bomsori Kim wasn’t a prodigy. The fruits that she has right now were all results of her hard work. Well, talking of her achievements, she won first place at the Hankook Ilbo Music Competition in 2007, fifth place at the 8th Hanover Violin Music Competition in 2012, 5th place at the Tchaikovsky International Music Competition in 2015, and second place at the Wieniawski International Music Competition in 2016.

She started the violin at age 5. But not only that, she also learned piano, flute and ballet growing up. Her diverse interest and knowledge in music has led to her diverse interpretations of music as well.
What’s interesting is that she’s also a go player. Actually, while in college, she also was part of a go club.

Bomsori Kim is a great musician but has room for growth, and we look forward to hearing more of her on stage.
