The Pentagon says the U.S. may move more troops to Baltic nations if needed to defend the region against any possible threat posed by Russia.
Speaking at a press conference with his Latvian counterpart, U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin also explained that Washington will conduct more military drills with Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia.
Austin, who is on a two-day visit to Latvia, is America's first defense secretary to visit the country in nearly three decades.
During the visit, he repeatedly emphasized that the U.S. is committed to helping countries in the region defend themselves.
