For the first time, South Korean cars are No. 3 in the European market.
Hyundai and Kia in the first quarter this year sold a combined 270-thousand vehicles in Europe, an on-year increase of more than 21 percent, according to the Korea Automobile Manufacturers Association.
The growth was largely due to strong demand for eco-friendly vehicles.
The two carmakers ranked third after Volkswagen Group and Stellantis.
They also had the third-biggest market share in the United States with sales of 320-thousand units.
