N. Korea says it is closely monitoring Omicron COVID-19 variant; prevention plans using 'own quarantine measures' Updated: 2021-12-08 09:41:35 KST

North Korea said it is keeping a close eye on the spread of the Omicron COVID-19 variant.
The regime's state-run Korean Central News Agency said Wednesday that a strain of a very contagious virus is rapidly spreading in many countries across five different continents.
It added that the regime is coming up with its "own quarantine measures" for virus prevention.
The North has been stressing the need to strictly abide by basic virus prevention rules including wearing masks but still claims to have zero COVID-19 cases because it closed its borders when the pandemic began.
