Goldman Sachs slashes U.S. GDP growth forecast for 2022 to 3.8% Updated: 2021-12-06 13:27:28 KST

The Omicron variant of the coronavirus has prompted Goldman Sachs to slash its growth forecast for the U.S. economy next year.
In a weekend report, Goldman economist Joseph Briggs said the firm expects U.S. GDP to grow 3.8 percent in 2022, down from its initial forecast of 4.2 percent.
He said the variant could cause growth to slow down but only modestly.
Goldman also sees the virus hurting shortages of labor and supplies.
