New technologies to achieve carbon neutrality introduced at BIXPO 2021 Updated: 2021-11-11 11:00:35 KST

The 2021 Bitgaram International Exposition of Electric Power Technology kicked off in South Korea on Wednesday.
Now in its seventh year, the three-day event is being held in Gwangju in the southwest corner of the country and under the slogan: "Invitation to the New Era: Meet Carbon-free Energy," in line with global efforts to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.

"From now on, national leaders, local governments, businesses, and citizens must all start with a strong will, or it will not be easy. Science and technology are just as necessary as will. It is practically impossible to achieve carbon neutrality without the rapid development of technology."

"More than 240 companies are here to present new technologies that could make our planet a greener place. Some of the eco-friendly technologies could end up as part of our daily lives.."

This is a solar cell window.
The Korea Electric Power Corporation is developing a system which converts sunlight that passes through them into electricity.

"To achieve carbon neutrality, more solar power will be used in the future. If more people use these windows, we will be able to reduce the burden of securing space and transporting electricity."

Other companies also displayed energy-efficient low-E glass windows, which improve the thermal efficiency, and a man-less defense drone generated by hydrogen fuel cells.
As well as large corporations, start-ups and university students also had the chance to promote their eco-friendly inventions.
A 360 degrees VR air dome also allowed visitors to experience the seriousness of the global climate crisis.

"I had an idea of how serious it is, but after watching the clip I realized that it is much more serious than I had thought. If nothing is done now, we will face tougher problems."

Over the next couple of days, leaders in the energy sector from all across the globe will participate in conferences to present a vision for a carbon-neutral future.
