U.S. envoy for North Korea, Sung Kim, arrived here in South Korea this afternoon for talks with his Korean counterpart Noh Kyu-duk.
Upon arrival, he told reporters that he looks forward to a productive follow-up meeting with Noh tomorrow.
They are to meet on Sunday in Seoul to discuss the denuclearization of the Korean peninsula.
Speculation is rife on what message the American envoy has regarding the Korean government's proposal of declaring a formal end to the Korean War.
Seoul and Washington have also been discussing whether to provide the North with humanitarian aid as a means to resume talks with Pyeongyang.
The two envoys already met in Washington this week along with their Japanese counterpart.
