South Korea's major shipbuilders have outpaced their annual order targets thanks to brisk global new orders.
Samsung Heavy Industries said Monday that it signed a one.seven U.S. billion dollar bill for seven shuttle tankers with a company in Eurasia.
Its orders for this year have now reached 71 ships which amounts to 10.three billion dollars, surpassing its annual target by 13 percent.
Korea Shipbuilding and Offshore Engineering also surpassed its annual order target of 14.nine billion by 33 percent.
Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering exceeded its annual order target by 11 percent with 8.58 billion dollars' worth of 46 ships this year.
This is the first time for the company to meet the target since 2014.
