Pope Francis greets people from all walks of life, but he had a surprise guest at his weekly Wednesday audience,Spiderman.
Dressed in the full, skin-tight, red, black and blue costume, he gave Pope Francis his Spiderman mask.
Spiderman said he was excited because Pope Francis immediately understood his mission.
"I gave him a mask I don't use anymore as a sign to tell him that through these eyes, I daily see pain from sick children in hospitals. I asked him to pray for them and their families, who really need his prayers."
The man behind the superhero costume is a 27-year-old from northern Italy who visits sick children in hospitals as to cheer them up.
Last year, he was also awarded the honorary title of Knight of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic for his 'altruism and contribution' based on his work with sick children.
