Gwanghwamun Square set to get a makeover by next April Updated: 2021-06-23 16:25:03 KST

One of Seoul's major attractions, Gwanghwamun Square, will be getting a makeover by next April that will include even more sites of historical interest to tourists.
According to Seoul city, the square, which leads to Gyeongbokgung Palace, will display artifacts from the Joseon Dynasty, newly excavated from the site, and a waterway resembling the drainage system used in that era.
Other plans include a renovation of the underground exhibition halls dedicated to King Sejong and Admiral Yi Sun-sin.
This comes after the city's new mayor, Oh Se-hoon, announced that he will continue with the project started by his predecessor.
