OPEC+ sticks to plans to ease oil cuts from May amid India COVID-19 surge Updated: 2021-04-28 06:58:38 KST

OPEC, Russia and their allies will stick to plans to ease oil production restrictions from May to July.
This comes after promising forecasts for a recovery in global demand, and despite surging COVID-19 cases in countries like India, Brazil and Japan.
The so-called OPEC+ group will stick to policies broadly agreed at a meeting held early April, to increase oil supply by two million barrels a day over the next three months.
OPEC+, which is responsible for over a third of global production, had cut output by around eight million barrels per day, equivalent to more than eight percent of global demand to help revive the oil industry from a price rout last year.
