S. Korea, Central America voice concerns over discharging contaminated water into ocean Updated: 2021-04-23 13:58:38 KST

South Korea and eight Central American countries have issued a joint statement, expressing concerns over Japan's plan to release radioactive water into the ocean from the Fukushima nuclear plant.
Thursday's statement expressed "deep concerns" over the impact of any country discharging contaminated water, and urged international cooperation to keep the Pacific Ocean from being polluted.
It was issued at a vice-ministerial meeting in Costa Rica, attended by Seoul's first vice foreign minister Choi Jong-kun.
They also agreed to work together on sustainable green growth and trade.
