President Moon Jae-in, speaking virtually to a regional forum Tuesday, said Asia needs to fight the war against COVID-19 together and win it.
In a video message for the annual conference of the Boao Forum for Asia, President Moon said he hopes the region will be able to set an example through the Northeast Asia Cooperation Initiative for Infectious Disease Control and Public Health.
That's a joint initiative with the U.S., China, Russia and Mongolia.
“I would like to commend the Chinese government's efforts, which include donating vaccines to developing countries. South Korea will step up its cooperation to achieve a fair distribution of vaccines, the free movement of workers, and make bold fiscal investments to overcome COVID-19.”
President Moon went on to say that the world will eventually overcome COVID-19 and that South Korea will do its best for mutual prosperity in Asia as a responsible middle power.
