S. Korea lowers speed limit for non-highway, expressway roads to 50km/h Updated: 2021-04-17 12:09:23 KST

Starting today, stricter speed limits are applied to roads in cities across the nation.
According to the National Policy Agency and the Korea Road Traffic Authority, speed limits are now set at 50 kilometers per hour on urban roads, excluding highways and expressways.
The speed limit on roads in residential areas and special protection zones, such as those in neighborhoods or school zones, has been reduced to 30 kilometers per hour.
The stricter speed limits aim to reduce the number of traffic accidents and injuries.
