The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has given Samsung Electronics its highest ENERGY STAR honor, the Corporate Commitment Award for its efforts on tackling climate change.
The award, which cannot be applied for, is OCCASIONALLY given when a company achieves high levels of performance across all parts of energy-efficiency.
Samsung is the first company in nine years to receive the distinction.
It was last granted in 2012 to Sears Holdings.
It's also just the sixth company to win the award in the EPA's history.
On top of that, Samsung was also recognized with the Sustained Excellence Award for the eighth time.
