The U.S. State Department says South Korea has the tools necessary to reevaluate its anti-North Korea leaflet law since its a democracy with a strong judiciary.
The law bans and criminalizes the sending of propaganda leaflets into the North.
According to Voice of America Wednesday, the State Department was responding to requests for a comment on the law.
Stressing the importance of information coming in and out of the North, it said the law is something Seoul should decide upon internally.
It added the U.S. and its allies, including South Korea, support and promote freedom of expression around the world.
