S. Korea had 26.9 mil. people in employment in March; up 1.2% y/y, first rise in 13 months Updated: 2021-04-14 09:01:05 KST

South Korea in March marked the first job additions in 13 months, a year since the pandemic took its toll on the country's economy.
Statistics Korea said Wednesday that the number of employed people amounted to some 26.9 million last month,a jump of one.two percent from last year.
The statistics agency attributed the growth to increased economic activity following eased social distancing rules.
However, the country's unemployment rate also rose point-1 percentage point on-year to 4.3 percent last month.
Industries hit hard by the pandemic such as the service and accommodation sectors continued to see a fall in employment numbers.
