South Korean Prime Minister Chung Sye-kyun has arrived in Iran as the nation seeks better bilateral relations between the two countries.
According to the Iranian news agency on Sunday, local time Chung met with Tehran's top officials including President Hassan Rouhani, just days after Iran released a Korean oil tanker and its captain after three months of detainment.
In a meeting with Prime Minister Chung Iran's Vice President Eshaq Jahangiri urged to immediately solve the issue of 7 billion U.S. dollars' worth of frozen Iranian fundslocated in South Korean bank accounts.
Vice President Jahangiri added that Iranians are suffering from medical supply shortages amid the pandemic due to the assets frozen by South Korea.
A South Korean Prime Minister last visited Iran in 1977.
