New Jersey city declares Oct. 21 as 'Korean Hanbok Day' Updated: 2021-04-07 09:53:58 KST

A city in New Jersey has officially designated October 21st as 'Korean Hanbok Day'.
Tenafly becomes the first city outside South Korea to commemorate the traditional Korean attire.
In a ceremony Tuesday, the city mayor recognized 'Hanbok' as Korea's cultural asset.
The proclamation comes after Korean-American youth activists filed a petition to enact the 'Korean Hanbok Day', in a bid to counter false claims about its origin.
