New Jersey city proclaims October 21st 'Korean Hanbok Day': AAYC Updated: 2021-04-05 09:04:20 KST

'Korean Hanbok Day' has been proclaimed for the very first time outside of South Korea.
The Asian American Youth Council announced on Sunday, that a city in New Jersey decided to name October 21st as the annual day for celebrating South Korea's traditional attire, 'Hanbok'.
South Korean youth activists led the move to refute false claims that say South Korea's 'Hanbok' and the well-known dish 'Kimchi' are Chinese.
Tenafly was the first city to pass the petition and is set to hold a proclamation ceremony on Tuesday.
The council is aiming to enact 'Korean Hanbok Day' in other cities across the U.S. as well.
