‘Minari’ wins best foreign language film at Golden Globes Updated: 2021-03-01 14:17:50 KST

The Golden Globes has awarded the 2021 Best Motion Pictures in the foreign language category to Lee Isaac Chung's American drama "Minari."
The Arkansas-set tale about a Korean American immigrant family that moves to a rural farm in the 1980s is based on Chung's own childhood and stars Steven Yeun, Han Yeri, and veteran Korean actress Youn Yuh-jung.
Written by Korean-American Chung and co-produced by A24 and Brad Pitt's Plan B Entertainment, "Minari" is in both English and Korean but was ineligible for entry into the best picture race, per Hollywood Foreign Press Assocation rules for films more than 50-percent in a language other than English.
Chung accepted the award Sunday evening thanking his cast and collaborators as his young daughter clung to his neck.
