Seoul-Tokyo ties hit lowest level, weakening 3-way cooperation with Washington: U.S. report Updated: 2021-02-10 05:47:33 KST

A U.S. congressional report says South Korea-Japan ties have slumped to their lowest ebb, which has in turn impacted Washington's own cooperation with its two Asian allies.
According to the Congressional Research Service, relations are at their lowest level since 2018.
The report noted that the Biden administration may be mulling ways to promote trust between Seoul and Tokyo, as Biden has pledged the U.S. will be in lockstep with its allies going forward.
Seoul-Tokyo ties have been deteriorating since mid-2019 after Japan imposed trade restrictions against South Korea.
