South Korea reported 271 new COVID-19 cases on Monday, dropping below 300 for the first time in six days.
Of the new cases, 255 were locally transmitted and 16 were imported.
The greater capital area saw two-hundred-and-six of those cases.
There were four more deaths, bringing the death toll to five-hundred-nine.
The Korean government has decided to raise social distancing in Greater Seoul to level two starting Tuesday amid the surge in cases over the past several days.
