It didn't take long for news of Seoul Mayor Park Won-soon's death to ripple around the world.
Starting with his disappearance reported Thursday afternoon, outlets including the BBC and Reuters followed police search operations conducted throughout the evening, noting Park had gone missing after a female employee in his office had filed a sexual harassment claim against him.
Upon his death, the BBC reported it wasn't confirmed this was a factor in his death.
The New York Times called Park the second-most powerful official in the country and noted his contribution to advancing human rights in South Korea.
The Financial Times highlighted Park's leadership as Seoul Mayor in tackling COVID-19, as well as his efforts to advance civil rights in South Korea.
