As South Korea readies itself for the new school year which starts online next week, the head of the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education, Cho Hee-yeon, says the city will be lending laptops or other devices to 80-thousand students.
Distribution will begin with third-year students in high school and middle school, who'll be the first to start online classes from next Thursday.
50-thousand of those students are from low-income households.
The education office also said it will spend 1.2 million U.S. dollars to set up Wi-Fi in over more than one thousand classrooms.
