S. Korean officials vow to ensure safe voting for April 15 general elections amid COVID-19 concerns Updated: 2020-04-02 13:40:48 KST

The government has vowed to ensure that people are safe when they go to vote on the 15th, with the coronavirus outbreak still very much a concern.
In a televised address Thursday, the ministers of foreign affairs, the interior and justice said they will work together so that all voting and counting stations are disinfected, and that there are separate polling stations for people with symptoms.
They also stressed that people who break the election laws, especially those on bribery and fake news, will face stern legal action.
The government also asked for understanding over its decision to cancel overseas voting in regions hit hard by the coronavirus.
