This person is getting ready to be tested for COVID-19.
Following the instructions of medical staff in the booth, the person hands over the cotton swab, and the collection of samples begins.
In less than a minute,.. the whole process is complete.
The booth provides a safe area for medical staff since no outside air can enter.
After disinfecting the gloves, the testing booth can be used again in a matter of minutes.
The testing was devised by Ahn Yeo-hyu, a medical officer at the Nam-gu Public Health Center in Busan, who tests for the deadly virus on a daily basis.
"If you keep testing while wearing protective gear, you run the risk of exhaustion or making mistakes so I devised the booth to help out."
The booths can be maintained in a positive pressure as well as in a negative pressure state, meaning they can be used anywhere, whether it be indoors or outdoors.
With demand for testing booth exploding worldwide, the company that created the testing booths using Ahn's idea is getting ready to export them around the world.
The idea evolved from the negative pressure tents that were used during the 2015 MERS outbreak in South Korea.
Experts hope the new coronavirus testing booth will be a crucial addition in the fight against COVID-19.
