A member of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics Executive Board is suggesting the Games may be delayed by up to two years in light of the coronavirus outbreak.
One of the 24 members of the board,… Haruyuki Takahashi said "preparations for any possibilities" should begin,… and "if the games can't be held in the summer, a delay of one or two years would be most feasible."
He said the organizers have just started looking at scenarios for how the coronavirus could affect the Olympics.
He previously told Wall Street Journal that board members had NOT discussed the issue, having last met in December of last year- weeks before the worldwide spread of the virus.
However, Japan's Olympics Minister is maintaining the government's position that postponing the Games is "inconceivable."
