Japan has reported 88 new cases of the coronavirus on the Diamond Princess cruise ship docked off Yokohama port.
The total number of confirmed patients on the vessel is now five-hundred forty-twomaking it the biggest hotspot for COVID-19 infections outside mainland China.
About 3,700 passengers and crew have been isolated on the ship since February 3rd.
The U.S. has already evacuated its citizens from the ship.
Other countries, including Australia and Philippines, are preparing to do the same.
With two-week quarantine period for those still on board ending on this Wednesday Japanese health authorities will be allowing passengers off the ship for those who have tested negative for the virus.
