Greece will soon have its first-ever female president after the top administrative court chief was elected the new head of state following a parliamentary vote.
On Wednesday, a cross-party majority of Greek lawmakers endorsed Katerina Sakellaropoulou to become president.
The 63-year-old is a well-known judge in Greece with a progressive attitude on the issues of discrimination and climate change.
She will take office in March.
