Vaccination rate among children under 12 low while Influenza is on rise Updated: 2019-12-09 16:29:03 KST

Local health authorities are encouraging children under twelve years old to get free flu vaccines.
Korea's CDC says the vaccination rate so far is roughly 70 percent, but for kids from 4th to 6th grade, its only about 40 percent.
For kids in that age group, flu shots are vital, especially for those who have special vulnerabilities.
Authorities are advising people to get the vaccine as soon as possible because the flu tends to spread in December and it takes about two weeks for the vaccine to take full effect.
