S. Korea not considering postponing GSOMIA termination: Defense Ministry Updated: 2019-11-12 04:15:27 KST

The South Korean government has stressed it is not considering postponing the termination of a military intel-sharing pact with Japan, that's set to expire late next week.
At a regular briefing on Monday, defense ministry spokesperson Choi Hyun-soo was asked whether the government was reviewing such options -- to which she said, as far as she knows, it is not.
In August, Seoul decided not to extend GSOMIA, in response to Tokyo's retaliatory trade measures over a Supreme Court ruling in Seoul ordering Japanese firms to compensate wartime forced labor victims.
Choi added there's no change to the government's stance as such measures can only be reviewed if Japan lifts its export restrictions and if bilateral ties recover.
