Police conclude BMW covered up defects, sends case to prosecutors Updated: 2019-11-02 15:05:48 KST

South Korean police has concluded that German automaker BMW had engaged in a cover-up to hide defective auto parts, and handed over the case to prosecutors.
This follows a year-long investigation, where the chair of BMW Korea and a number of executives were brought in for questioning.
The automaker and eight board members of the firm now face indictment, on charges of violating Korea's Motor Vehicle Management Act.
BMW has been accused of concealing defects in its exhaust gas recirculation coolers since 2015, with car owners filing a lawsuit against the German firm and its Korean affiliate.
