Nearly 24-hundred people have been arrested during the four months of pro-democracy demonstrations in Hong Kong.
This is according to Hong Kong's Chief Secretary Matthew Cheung on Thursday.
Nearly a third of those arrested are under 18,and among of them, around 100 students were under 16 years old.
Describing the numbers as "shocking" and "heartbreaking," the secretary urged parents and teachers to prevent their children from participating in "illegal or violent acts."
During the unrest in the city, an 18-year-old student was shot in the shoulder with a live round.
