U.S. President Donald Trump has emphasized once again that he's not looking for regime change in North Korea and that he believes North Korea has tremendous economic potential.
Answering questions from reporters at the White House on Wednesday, Trump lumped North Korea together with Iran, suggesting the possibility of striking a deal with them.
"We're not looking for regime change. They have tremendous potential. And I think they're going to want to take advantage of that potential. I really believe that. I think North Korea is a country with tremendous potential and I think they're going to want to take advantage of it. So we'll see what happens."
Such remarks are seen as a gesture to get North back to the negotiating table amid a deadlock in the denuclearization talks. and with analysts saying time is not on Trump's side.
At the G7 Summit held in France late last month, Trump also commented on the regime's potential, while addressing questions on Iran.
