Archives show Japan set up and ran brothels for its troops in Vietnam during the 1940s.
Seoul's National Institute of Korean History said Monday that it discovered new evidence in French archives which show that wartime brothels were set up in Vietnam, including in Hanoi and Hai Phong.
Documents show Japanese forces administered the sites and brought in women during its occupation of Vietnam.
The report also stated that 70 females nurses and 25 other unidentified women were brought to the sites in February 1941.
