Complete denuclearization remains goal of S. Korea: Seoul's FM Updated: 2019-07-03 16:30:24 KST

South Korea's foreign minister Kang Kyung-wha says Seoul's goal is achieving the complete denuclearization of North Korea.
Speaking at a parliamentary meeting earlier today, Kang said Seoul and Washington reaffirmed that their goal is denuclearization during their recent summit, adding that she doesn't believe there's a change in Washington's strategy.
There had been speculation that the U.S. may settle for a nuclear freeze, after a report said that U.S. officials may scrap their goal of getting Pyeongyang to completely abandon its nuclear program.
As for the recent meeting between Kim Jong-un and President Trump at the DMZ, Kang said she received a detailed briefing from the U.S., and that Washington sees the meeting as positive.
