The Republic of Azerbaijan, also known as the "Land of Fire," is a country in the South Caucasus region of Eurasia at the crossroads of Eastern Europe and Western Asia. Due to its geographic nature, Azerbaijani culture is a true blend of East and West, and the country is also one of the oldest spots of civilization with a rich, ancient history. 2018 marks the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, a short-lived nation-state precursor to the modern-day Republic of Azerbaijan and the first democratic state in the Muslim-oriented world.
In commemoration of this big year, we meet with Azerbaijani Ambassador to Korea Ramzi Teymurov on "The Diplomat" to delve deeper into the nation's efforts to prepare for a post-oil society and develop bilateral ties with South Korea, along with Ambassador Teymurov's endeavors to bridge the gap between the two nations.
