Daegu, Korea has been dubbed "Daefrica" for being as hot as Africa in the summertime. To make the summer heat a little more bearable, the municipal government has been making various efforts such as hosting a festival that involves tons of ice blocks to cool people down for three days. Using the ice blocks, an ice cave, an ice foot bath and an ice stadium get created to help people beat the heat. We take you to Daefrica to see how people are surviving the summer heat, with a touch of fun!
There are movie theaters that offer more than just movie screenings. You can watch concerts and enjoy various other experiences that provide throwbacks and trigger nostalgia. One of these movie theaters specifically cater to seniors by playing classic movies and hosting live music shows featuring names that are well-known to the elderly community! There is also a mini movie theater with only six seats available, and a social club comprised of movie fans pays a visit every weekend to watch a movie and discuss it afterwards. There are inventions that are designed to bring conveniences to people's everyday lives such as a walker that the elderly can use on the stairway, a device that can making the voting process easier for the visually impaired, and more. What's surprising is that they've been created by youth! We take you to the 2019 Youth Invention Festival to check out some of the inventions from around 170 participants and to get a glimpse of the creativity demonstrated by 100 teams of young brilliant minds at a creativity championship.
