Countries worldwide are starting to calculate how the looming digital tax would impact their respective economies. The digital tax policy is a global initiative currently under discussion to allow each country to collect tax from revenues that multinational companies are making within its market. S. Korea, home to some of the global companies that will be subject to paying digital tax like Samsung and SK Hynix, has also revealed its stance on the tax reform project. On July 11th, S. Korea’s finance minister Hong Nam-ki suggested setting 20% of the multinational companies’ excess profits as digital tax. We invite experts to project how the introduction of the digital tax will affect S. Korea and the rest of the world.
