Media art has been developed based on the collaboration of media and artistic fields. And it has strengthened its position as an artistic genre that represents the fourth industrial revolution. Along with the broadened range of media art, a lot of different methods that can express artistic values have been newly introduced. And robot is one of the emerging methods. Robots, which used to be applied mainly to industrial sites, provide performances on stage even as a main character. Instead of simply applying existing technologies, development of new technologies have added fun elements to performances. A new media art technology that applied a motion sensor to LED screen has been developed. Also, digital clothing which was developed with LED lights, has gained popularity among the audience when it appears on performances. Media facade is a type of visual art that shows various contents by projecting images to the surface of buildings. And it has been applied to various fields as it can receive wide publicity and capture the attention of the public more effectively. Media facade has especially gained recognition as a cultural content for tourism. Moreover, it has led to the growth of the tourism industry and actually contributed to increasing the number of tourists. We introduce media art, which has created new added values based on the collaboration between science and art, aside from creating new cultures.

And it has served as a significant growth engine that can change the fields of forestry and agriculture. A variety of smart technologies including drones, IoT, artificial intelligence and robots have been actively introduced. And it has given a boost to the green growth technologies, which can accelerate agricultural and forest administrative activities and develop related technologies. Smart farming, which is one of the popular technologies, enables convenient farming by introducing various technologies. And it has garnered attention as an emerging agricultural model that can satisfy people’s expectations. In 2019, smart farming has been applied to a variety of different areas as it enables eco-friendly cultivation of crops by making use of the renewable energy sources. Along with the industrialization and urbanization which have caused damage of nature, forest preservation has grown in significance. And a lot of IT skills that can protect forests and investigate the forest resources have been developed. A technology, that can analyze the filmed images and detect diseases and pests, has been newly introduced. Moreover, by implementing LiDAR technology, it is possible to scan information on forest areas that are difficult for humans to make an approach. Thanks to the rise of IT skills for green growth and their effective use, a lot of related jobs have been newly created. We look into the ongoing development of IT skills for green growth, which will cope with eco-friendly trends and lead the sustainable national development.
New and renewable energy can cope with climate change and reduce fine dust. Also, it has contributed to revitalizing the national economy. In 2019, Korea has made a lot of attempts to promote and expand the use of new and renewable energy sources. Solar power has emerged as one of the most promising energy sources in the field of new and renewable energy. And the technologies for commercialization have been developed rapidly. Perovskite solar cell, which can tackle various weak points of silicon solar cell, has been developed. Moreover, a portable solar charger was released as well. Year 2019 can be considered as a starting point for the popularization of hydrogen as well as electric vehicles. The infrastructure for charging stations has been developed rapidly. And a charging station, which saves the solar power and uses it for the charging of electric vehicles, has also been established. Bio energy, which recycles industrial waste, has also garnered a lot of attention. A technology, which can produce biogas with food waste effluent, has been developed. And a technology that can extract biofuel by incubating microalgae has been newly introduced. As part of an effort to make new and renewable energy become a core energy source of the future, the government is planning to encourage participation of the public and overhaul the measures to tackle the obstacles facing the industrial field. We explore a lot of technologies for new and renewable energy and a variety of policies for more effective use of energy which have been promoted in 2019.
