The business environment for small business owners has changed rapidly. The sales on online shopping malls have increased and the number of smart stores has grown along with the development of new technologies including big data, AI and IoT. On September 10, the government unveiled a set of measures to support small business owners. The measures have been prepared in order to strengthen their capabilities to cope with the changing business environment, revitalize local businesses and improve the management conditions of small business owners. PARK Young-sun, Minister of SMEs and Startups has visited a Korean traditional market to boost local businesses and help them advance into the global market. The Ministry of SMEs and Startups has carried out a campaign with a slogan, “Buy Value, Live Together.” The campaign aims to spread the culture of coexistence by purchasing small, but valuable products at a traditional market, which is the backbone of people’s economic activities. Moreover, the ministry will endeavor to export the products of small businesses through Arirang TV and host a consultation meeting with a global shopping mall. A traditional market fall festival is held from September 20 to October 20. And the event is joined by about 370 traditional markets and businesses. Together with Minister of SMEs and Startups PARK Young-sun, we introduce the government measures to help small business owners cope with the changing business environment and seize new opportunities to boost sales.

Therefore, a lot of technologies that can help people understand information on the interior space have been developed. In case of outdoor mapping, the location information can be obtained easily by making use of GPS. However, it is impossible to gain information on indoor spaces with GPS, so the researches on indoor mapping haven’t been vitalized so far. And a technology that provides precise measurement of indoor spaces by using the earth's magnetic field has been developed. As the magnetic field exists everywhere inside a building, there is no additional expense when measuring the location. Moreover, by implementing AR technologies to the produced maps, indoor maps can be used for a wide range of fields. A domestic university has developed a service that can provide integrated information on both indoor and outdoor spaces. When entering a destination into an application, the application shows the way based on the integrated location information. As it has enabled the students to move more conveniently inside the campus, it has achieved positive responses from the students. Also, it is now possible to check the exact location of a user inside a multi-story building. Moreover, a 3D indoor map can be produced only with a 2D floor plan by extracting and converting the data in three dimensions automatically. We look into the continuing development of indoor mapping which has implemented sophisticated technologies.
Limitless potential of forest has been a great help to our lives as it provides fresh air, wood as well as shelters. Aside from building a green forest, a variety of solutions have been suggested to create a more economical forest ecosystem. Smart forest, which is an emerging solution, has collaborated with ICT skills to preserve forest more effectively. LiDAR sensor, which can sense information with a laser, has been developed. And it has enabled more convenient investigation on forest resources. Humans had to measure the height and girth of trees in the past. However, the information can be measured more conveniently by using a laser that can sense the distance and shape. The data measured with a LiDAR sensor in the forest is transmitted to a laboratory for the extraction of precise information. The scanned information can be realized precisely in three dimensions. The LiDAR sensor technology is expected to be widely used for large-scale investigations on forest. Thanks to the collaboration of drone and AI technology, it has become possible to sort out dead trees with a pine wilt disease. The videos filmed with drones are analyzed by using an AI-based object recognition technology. And it can rapidly sort out dead trees with a pine wilt disease. Along with the rapid rise of smart forest technologies, tree surgeon has emerged as a new job by considering the enhanced value of forest. It can minimize the damage on trees by providing optimal treatment solutions. We explore smart forest technologies which are ICT-based techniques that have preserved forest resources and enhanced the value of forest.
