Korea and the United Arab Emirates are commemorating the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties this year. Since establishing relations on June 18, 1980, the cooperation between the two countries is now more active than ever. This is thanks to the relationship between the two sides being elevated to a “special strategic partnership” as a result of President Moon Jae-in’s visit to the UAE in March 2018 and his meeting with Sheik Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Crown Prince of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. Healthcare and renewable energy are two areas where cooperative projects are actively being pursued between the two sides for future growth. Celebrating the 40th anniversary of friendship, the two countries have designated this year as the “Year of Mutual Cultural Exchange” to promote the active exchange of culture. Due to COVID-19, related activities have been extended to next year. We will hear about the relationship between the two countries and their partnership for future cooperation from the Ambassador of the UAE to S. Korea, Abdulla Saif ALNUAIMI.
