Korea and Egypt are celebrating the 25th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations this year. The Ambassador of Egypt to S. Korea, Hazem FAHMY, has been maintaining strong bilateral relations while spearheading cooperative projects in a variety of different areas. The first MOU between pharmaceutical companies of both sides was signed, leading to the contract manufacturing of plasma-derived medical products in Korea using Egyptian plasma, and the establishment of a plasma fractionation plant in Egypt. Using this as a springboard, cooperative projects between the two countries, post-COVID-19, are expected to become even more active. Ambassador Fahmy is also actively promoting cooperation in the education and culture sectors. In December last year, the Egyptian Gallery opened at the National Museum of Korea, becoming the first permanent exhibition of Egyptian artifacts in Korea. The exhibition is expected to create a platform for cultural cooperation between the two countries, which have long histories. We will hear more from Ambassador Fahmy, who is the bridge for active cooperation between the two sides.
