The National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, also known as MMCA, is Korea's symbolic cultural space that has followed the traces of Korean modern and contemporary art. This year, MMCA celebrated its 50th anniversary. Today, we will hear from MMCA director Youn Bum-mo speak about the Museum's history and its upcoming transformation.
Youn Bum-mo has devoted himself to the art circles in Korea as an art critic, curator, and professor. Appointed as the MMCA director in last February, he declared his goal of transforming MMCA as the friendly and open art museum.
In particular, this year is highlighted with his global activities. He is planning to showcase Korean artworks to the world through the exhibition at the 58th La Biennale di Venezia. Also, the inter-Korean exchange and cooperation project in the field of art is attracting attention as one of the MMCA's main projects.
We shall gain an insight into the present and future of MMCA, an art museum that is opening up to, and collaborating with the world, with director Youn Bum-mo.
