Possible solutions to climate change

Global concerns over climate change are continuing to escalate, with the EU announcing on August 5 that July had been the hottest month on-record for the entire planet. Record temperatures were seen in cities all across Europe, with the mercury hitting 42.6 degrees Celsius in Paris, 42.6 degrees also in Germany, 40.6 degrees in Belgium and 40.4 degrees in the Netherlands. India was also scorched by temperatures exceeding 50 degrees, leading the deaths of around 100 people due to heat-related illnesses. Climate change has not only led to record temperatures, but also increased flooding, drought, blizzards and other extreme weather conditions. Greenhouse gases have been identified as the main culprit of climate change, particularly carbon dioxide emissions. With carbon reduction measures being seen as the most effective means to stop climate change in its tracks, we sit down with our panelists to find out more on how that can be done, in this week's edition of 'Foreign Correspondents'.
